I've been coming here for a few years. My kids love this place and take every opportunity to enjoy the food. I feel the ambiance and the cooking presentation are what they love to see. This past weekend was the beginning of the wife's birthday week and decided to indulge. The chef we had was great, and the tokyo tea was made with much love and had to have 3 of those. I decided on 4 stars because parking can be a challenge. There are not enough handicapped parking spaces to accommodate the level of traffic in the area. I do appreciate their continued support for veterans. Semper Fi.......

I took my brother here to have a nice dinner because I've eaten here before and I really loved the ambiance and food, mind you I came here for lunch. We were already waiting for the waitress to take our drink and food orders since my brother was starving from his flight to California. Our drinks came first and I knew it would take a while before the food came because I could see the restaurant was already crowded with guests. This was fine because we had the chance to catch up and talk before our food came but it was louder because of the cooks and customers cheering them. My brother thoroughly enjoyed the fried calamari but he said it's prepared slightly different than what he usually eats. Then our main dishes arrived. The food presentation was beautiful and food tasted delicious! Only problem was that one of our appetizers arrived after our main dishes which was okay because musubi is sometime eaten as a meal. Overall, the food was on point. If you're looking for a nice quiet restaurant for dinner than maybe pick a different place.

Shiki is a pan Asian restaurant, with a focus on Japanese, very large with regular dining, a sushi bar, a bar with sports on the TV, and several teppan grills. It's a fun place, located near Harkins Theater, great for a date night, which was exactly what my boyfriend and I were there for, going to see Godzilla Minus One afterwards, so it was perfect. I had the spicy beef ramen, he had sushi, plus some egg rolls that had a Vietnamese name "Pho 77" egg roll, which imo, were closer to a Filipino "lumpia". It was good though, the sauce was Vietnamese for sure. The food all tasted good, it was fun to watch the teppan diners and chefs, and our server was fine, but possibly new, because she told my bf he had to go up to the register to put in his PIN (?). We were like "what?", bc why wouldn't you run it as a credit card? So, that was the only downside, bc when he got up there, they said they did run it as credit. Not good. Anyway, I still recommend Shiki for a fun experience and decent Asian fare.

So we have been to this shiki sushi a few times now and have had the various dine-in experiences. We had just the regular dine-in & recently we just tried the Habachi-Teppan. Both times the experiences have been great... the only thing I'm going to sing them on is we have been there a few times, and the location charged us the regular bill without tip, and then a second charge of the bill plus tip. This happened twice and we had to call our banks to tell them to void the ones without the tips because we were charged twice. Then when we tried the Teppan, almost all the plates on our "bar" were chipped and scratched, and the linen cloths were stained terribly. I took a pic so you can just how dirty it was when we recieved them folded up. I get... it's stains it's not actually dirty, but it still looks unclean and unsanitary... for where this location is and how busy it always is... I'm sure they have enough money to get their linens professionally cleaned or at least buy new ones every now and again. In anyway both times the food has been good and the service we get is always good too. Every now and again we get a waitress who doesn't check in on us or takes forever to get us things like our drinks or check... but nothing to serious. Pros: good food, leisure location is great, friendly service Cons: long wait times, dirty/chipped plates & silverware, weird or unusual charging systems with banks.
